Halifax Job

Halifax, Nova Scotia is a beautiful, modern Canadian city that is located on the eastern shore next to the Atlantic Ocean. This bustling port town of 360,000 boasts the second largest natural harbor in the world but there are numerous other scenic spots to be found. As expected, the area contains countless water activities like diving, sailing, nature watching and much more.
Halifax is centrally located and is in close proximity to Quebec, Montreal, and Boston. While most of the city is at sea level some areas are higher and the topography is varied. There are sand beaches on the coast and lush farmlands and forested hills outside of the city. Halifax is a wonderful place to live and work.

There is a large variety of jobs in Halifax. As the largest city east of Quebec, Halifax has many government agencies located here. Because of its strategic location, the Department of National Defense is a major employer. The military presence has opened up many jobs and they are one of the largest employers. Also, as a major port, many jobs associated with shipping such as cargo handling, warehousing, and transportation are available here. This is an important Canadian city and jobs in many other levels of government have been drawn here.
The private sector also supplies many jobs in Halifax. Farming is a big industry along with mining and petroleum exploration so natural resources have created many job opportunities for this area. As the economic hub in the region, banking, finance, and business are also important employers.
Housing jobs are rising in Halifax as a real estate boom is taking place. As the city continues to grow, the demand for more housing is increasing which is creating many jobs in the construction industry. Building new homes, remodeling older homes and the gentrification of other neighborhoods is generating the need for carpenters, plumbers, electricians and other skilled construction workers.
Transportation is another industry that is supplying many Halifax jobs because the city is the transportation center for the area. Along with the Port, the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, which serves countless visitors each year, offers many jobs to service these travelers. The railroad, too, is an important cog in the movement of goods that requires many workers.
The economic future looks bright for Halifax and that means many jobs will be available for those who want to work in the city.
